If my academy joins a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) what functions will be centralised and what will remain local?

There is no fixed answer to this question – it depends very much on the particular MAT. However, typical functions that are centralised by MATs include payroll, finance functions such as purchasing/placing of contracts, statutory reporting, VAT, budgeting and HR.
