For admission appeals: The school representative is usually a governor who has knowledge of the school's admission criteria. The governor may be supported by the head teacher whose attendance is purely to answer specific questions on the day to day running of the school. On occasion, if no governor is available, the head teacher presents the schools case.
For exclusion reviews: Typically three representatives from the school attend; the head teacher; a governor who was part of the Pupil Disciplinary Committee hearing and a member of staff who has day to day contact with the pupil.
