As a secondary school do we have to deliver core PE as well as examination/accredited courses in PE?

As a LA maintained school expected to deliver the statutory national curriculum then core PE should be provided as well as examination PE. However schools are not under obligation to deliver both. It is good practice to deliver examination PE as a separate area of study from core PE. Academies and Free Schools can select the most suitable curriculum and examination pathway without having to deliver the Key Stage 4 national curriculum.
