Are the differentials between pay for heads, deputy and assistant head teachers fixed or flexible?

Differentials are currently fixed in accordance with the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document. However, the School Teachers' Review Body has recommended greater flexibility as part of its 23rd report to the Secretary of State in order to enable flexible career paths into leadership roles and allow leadership teams to adapt more easily to the changing needs of the school. Such flexibilities have not yet come into effect and schools should take HR advice when considering such issues.
