Pupil Premium (PP) is additional Funding given to publically funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
Funding is determined using January Census data and applies to Yrs R-11 for all phases of school. Qualifying categories for funding include: Deprivation (registered as eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) at any point in the last 6 years); Looked After Children; and Service Premium (children with parents serving in the regular British armed forces).
Early Years pupil premium was introduced in 2015/16 for 3 - 4 year olds in Early Years settings.
School are accountable for the impact of PP funding; one of the requirements is that each school publish details on-line annually of how the PP funding is being used and the impact on pupil achievement.
